Swimming Lessons

We signed the boys up for swimming lessons at the North Shore Aquatic Center in North Ogden. I have been so impressed with their program. The instructors are all high school kids, but they are so kind and patient with the kids. Lincoln has loved every minute of level one and has now passed off all of his requirements, so he'll be able to do level 2 next year. His dad made him a deal that he'd take him to the flow rider as soon as he passed off level one, which was really fun for him. He also now gets to jump off the smaller of the diving boards at the pool, he even did a front flip off of it. I'm so impressed with how well he's swimming.
Oliver had a lot of fun too, although here in Utah it's now a state regulation that all children under the age of 4 have to wear a swim diaper and plastic cover in order to swim in a public pool, whether they are potty trained or not. This was very traumatic for him. He screamed for half of his lesson, just mortified with the idea of putting on a diaper, he's a big kid for crying out loud! Anyway we finally coaxed him into wearing it, but it was a sore spot every week when we had to put it on again. Next year we won't have to worry about it, and he got through it, and ended up really enjoying his lessons, for the most part.

Man that sucks about the diaper thing, Tyler would cry!! We did swim lessons this year and it was mommy and me lessons. I am excited for all-by-himself lessons, I think he will learn more then just how to hang on to me!
