When we first fund out that we were going to be moving, one of the things that helped to ease the blow for Lincoln was the prospects of skiing and snowboarding a lot more frequently, we even thought some classes would be fun. Things have been so busy with just life around here much more of which is spent in the car unfortunately, that we haven't been able to go as much as we would have liked this year. Plus it's pretty pricey! Now that the season is almost over we've found some great options for next year.
We have an amazing family friend who is a ski instructor and offered to give Linc a private lesson, such a nice guy. Lincoln was over flowing with excitement for the entire week before. We still had to pay for rentals and lift tickets so Ollie and I just stayed in the lodge played Legos and took pictures.
It was his very first time on skis, and since he's been used to snowboarding he was a little frustrated with the learning curve, but he had so much fun and even made a few friends that he had fun racing down the hill with. He loved skiing, but definitely wants to try out a real snowboard the next time we go up.
The greatest news is that our friend has certain days during the week when friends and family get to come and ski for $5 a lift ticket and he totally invited us to do it anytime, which will make it so much more reasonable. A lot of the sports places have great deals early on in the season for yearly rentals we'll be able to take advantage of next season.
I love this picture of my guys! Josh was pretty sore by the end of the day, he had to rent boots a size bigger, because by the time we got there, it was all they had left. Plus he hasn't been skiing in a while and it really gets to your calves.
He did such a great job, I was so impressed! He was a little to gutsy for his own good, and kept trying to go over the moguls and then totally wiping out, but he kept getting back up and going for more.
Oliver was also such a trooper, poor kid, talk about torture taking him up to this amazing ski place and then making him sit it out in the lodge. He really had so much fun just playing in the snow, and Kent came to the rescue again, taking him up the lift a few times, and letting him ski down the hill standing on his skis. Oliver was in heaven.
Thanks Kent for the amazing day on the slopes. It was the perfect introduction back into the mountains for us, and I'm sure we'll be heading up for more adventures soon.
