We've started a family tradition of decorating the kids rooms, so they wake up to happy birthday decorations first thing. Lincoln loves this tradition, although he wakes up much earlier than he normally would, once he sees the balloons he's ready for his big day to begin. We then did the hot and cold game until he found the hiding place for his birthday treasures, which he found in the shower. His big present this year was a bright blue(his favorite color) scooter, which he's been begging to have for at least a year and a half now. He also got a few planes and a cool helicopter launcher. He's been very into things that fly lately, a little obsessed actually.
His party didn't take place for another few weeks. So we new we were going to be moving, and we new this was going to be a tough transition for Lincoln. He has a lot of close friends in Reno, he really loves it here, so we wanted to go out with a bang. What better way than to throw a huge birthday party where all of his friends could come and have a final Hurrah, right? After going to a bounce house with his grandma, we decided having a bounce house in our own backyard would make for a really cool birthday, considering how much Lincoln loves them. We looked into it, and found that they were pretty reasonably priced. Grandma offered to pay for half of it as part of her gift to Lincoln, so we did it. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate, which meant we had to postpone until the next weekend. You see when renting a bounce house in order for them to come set it up there can't be any type of precipitation, it ruins them. After the first rain out, we started checking the weather reports for the next Saturday, and yet again it was the only day of week that any rain was predicted. You have to understand how infrequently it rains in Reno, I felt awful. Not only did I keep having to explain this to my son, but all the other kids kept having to deal with the disappointment as well. A bounce house party is a pretty big deal in the life of any 4 year old. After changing the day twice already we decided to just hope for the best, and that's exactly what we got. It was a little windy and cold, but No Rain, so perfect in our book! Everyone had a great time, it did however make me sad about leaving. We have an amazing ward here, and so many friends and neighbors that truly care, so many great people. We will really miss this place!
